Office Fashion No’s!!
What an amazing collection of comments bizMe received regarding our unofficial facebook poll on fashion pet peeves in the office. Let’s hope your nine-to-five look isn’t on our list! Read up bizgals—guys weighed in on this issue too!
Results of what irks you the most in office attire:
❋ When the metal on the high heels comes through and women continue to wear them and they make that awful clicking noise. Get them fixed – it’s less than 10 bucks!!! It’s an instant clue to cheapness (or forgetfulness?)!!!
❋ short pants!!!!
❋ cell phone belt clips, tapered pants, mock necks
❋ white athletic socks with dress shoes or white boots
❋ messy hair
❋ un-ironed clothes
❋ skirts that are too short
❋ dingy clothes and non-bright whites
❋ untucked shirts (some are meant to . . . but most of the time things need to be tucked in)
❋ not wearing a belt—more so for men; but women should wear a belt when tucking in their shirt
❋ shorts of any kind
❋ VPL’s (visible panty line!!)
❋ clothes that are a size too small
❋ shirts that are so tight you can see the bra because the buttons don’t lay flat
❋ dress shoes with tassels on them
❋ Improper panties with tight work pants, creating a massive ridge on said cheeks
❋ dudes that wear scarves when it’s not cold
❋ 80’s “Father’s Day” ties
❋ Super spiky high heels . . . for work, really?? (excludes street corner “offices” in seedy areas of town)
❋ visible tattoos especially the so-called tramp stamp
❋ bras that are the wrong color under a light colored shirt
❋ people trying to sneak body piercings at work . . . when we work in health care, you cannot wear your nose or tongue rings/bars!!
❋ clothing items from 20-30 years ago
❋ tie clips, of any type
❋ People that squeeze into schmediums when they are XXL’s!
❋ 80’s clothes and hair
❋ My advice: if you wouldn’t wear it to church, don’t wear it to the office.
❋ too much perfume!!
❋ And you’ve probably guessed the number one pet peeve: too much cleavage showing which is neither classy nor appropriate. Ladies, if you “bend and snap” as Reese Witherspoon taught her salon buds in that classic clip from Legally Blonde and your chest is showing, change your clothes!
