Amy you make some great points! Branding is about first impressions (it can take up to 21 interactions to undo a bad first impression) but it's so much more! Yes - we all need to have our personal elevator pitch (60 seconds to tell (i) Who You Are (ii) What Problem You Solve (not just what you do) (iii) What Your Unique Value Proposition Is and lastly (iv) Who Is Your Target Market.

But your personal brand is about identifying what traits are intrinsically a part of you -- and then making sure that is expressed in a significant way in your job. You'll be more productive for the company and thus the company will invest more in you. It all starts with branding!
