Kappa Delta Sorority
Kappa Delta Sorority was founded in 1897 in Farmville, Virginia.  It has over 205,000 members, 212 chartered collegiate chapters and 506 chartered alumnae chapters nationwide.  Kappa Delta is active in a number of philanthropic causes.  It has given nearly $10 million to the prevention of child abuse, over $1.5 million to Children’s Hospital in Richmond, Va., and over $1.5 million to orthopaedic research.  In 1998 Kappa Delta Sorority entered into a national partnership with Girl Scouts of the USA to provide mentoring and funding. The sorority created National Women’s Friendship Day (now National Women’s Friendship Month) in 1999 to encourage all women to celebrate with their friends. In 2009, Kappa Delta created National Girls Day, to celebrate the power of girls to make a difference in their communities. That same year, it created the Confidence Coalition to promote women’s confidence and bring awareness to the organizations and companies that promote confidence. Kappa Delta’s national headquarters is in Memphis, Tenn. In 2007, Kappa Delta formed a partnership with bizMe to offer career advice and inspiration to KD members.
